"I'm just not very creative ..."

We can't all be creative ... or can we?

Creativity . Have you been told that it is a gift that some have and others don't? People sometimes describe themselves or others as "not very creative."

I thought I was one of those "not very creative" people. So when a poem that I wrote was accepted for publication, it was for me the culmination of what seemed to be a surprising creative process. Spiritual inspiration and a deep desire to share an idea I'd had were what impelled me to write the poem. And they provided the impetus for the thorough revisions as well! (Even the revisions were accomplished with a minimum of perplexity.)

What is the point of my telling you about this modest, unexpected success as a poet? Why, to illustrate that creativity isn't awarded, hit or miss, just to some lucky few. In fact, Christian Science shows us that creativity isn't simply a personal accomplishment at all! The very beginning of the Bible tells us that man is made in the image of God. And since God creates only that which is perfect and complete, how could creativity, spontaneity, or inspiration be left out of man? As we begin to grasp our real identity as this man, we find that this fact is the basis for bringing to light our natural creative capacities.
