Many years ago, shortly after I had been introduced to Christian Science, my husband, our two small children, and I were driving home from a day spent in the country. It was after dark, and as we started down a hill, we hit a car that was parked in the road with no lights on.
All during the drive I had been thinking about the spiritual interpretation of the Lord's Prayer, as given in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (see pp. 16–17), as well as "the scientific statement of being" (see p. 468). I felt no fear when we hit the car. Our car turned upside down and was crushed, and there was glass everywhere; but not one of us was cut or hurt in any way. We were so grateful for this protection.
Many years later my son was an officer and pilot in the Air Force. He flew many missions; and although there were many holes shot through their plane, he and his crew were never harmed.
