By about my midteens I had decided that Christian Science made sense if its starting point—the allness of God, good—could be accepted. The teachings of Science were helpful to me from then on, notably during two years of national (military) service and while at university.
A few years later I was studying at a university overseas, having given up my previous employment for this purpose. At the end of the academic year I was to be married. As the year advanced, the need to find a suitable job to return to became more and more pressing; and the difficulty of doing so from outside my own country seemed overwhelming.
