Looking down at the stars
Just for a moment.
A new view of Deity, of God's plan.
It happened quite unexpectedly,
on a night flight. As the plane rose,
thousands of twinkling lights
appeared below me,
miniature car comets,
tiny, blue-white constellations
all shining upward.
A great metropolitan Milky Way,
orderly, moving, yet constant and fixed.
Bravely, audaciously radiating light
back to an infinite cosmos.
And then it came,
just for a moment,
a vision of heaven on earth,
of life's eternal harmony.
Looking down at the stars.
