Keeping thought poised in Spirit
There's no peace like the peace of spiritual-mindedness. It's worth the self-sacrifice needed to gain it.
Sometimes I wake in the early dawn hours to the cooing of the mourning doves. I cherish these times as opportunities to reflect quietly on God and to feel His closeness and strength. A verse from a hymn beautifully describes this feeling:
Still, still with Thee when purple morning breaketh,
When the bird waketh, and the shadows flee,
Fairer than morning, lovelier than the daylight,
Dawns the sweet consciousness, I am with Thee. Christian Science Hymnal, No. 317 .
