Dealing with bouts of discouragement
Don't let discouragement keep you down. There is something you can do about it!
We all have times, don't we, when we get discouraged? Times when we're so down we wonder if it's all worth it? Even I—ol' upbeat Ed—have felt this way. Let me tell you about one experience.
I had a new job and high hopes for it. I had been impressed with the way they did things in the new office and was looking forward to becoming part of it all. Then I made my first mistake—I reported for work!
Right away I found bickering, backbiting, politicking, conniving. People were often downright rude and inconsiderate. My fresh ideas, which I had been led to believe were what they were looking for when they hired me, generally fell on deaf ears. As days turned into weeks and weeks into months, it was more of the same.
