Many years ago I suffered with what was diagnosed as an incurable disease of the skin and muscles, termed dermatomyositis by the various doctors I consulted. These physicians were mystified as to the cause of the disease and peppered me with questions. The doctor at one medical clinic said there were few known cases of the disease, and he was doubtful that doctors could help me because they knew of no cure for it.

I had no idea how to deal with either the physical or the mental anguish. Hoping that it would help me, my husband took me to the Gulf Coast for an extended vacation. While I sat propped in a lounge chair in front of our room, my husband would walk the beach, praying to God and asking for His help! The answer to his prayer came in an unexpected way through a telephone call from a relative. She suggested that we try Christian Science. She had heard that Christian Science healed through prayer. Neither my husband nor I knew anything about Christian Science, and I didn't want to try it; but my husband insisted that we were going to find out about it.

We drove to town the next day to go to a Christian Science church to get some literature, for we knew nothing of Reading Rooms or Christian Science practitioners. I met a church member who was a Christian Science practitioner. When she started telling us about Christian Science, I had such a wonderful feeling that this was the truth.
