Prayer—what is it?

With a better sense of what prayer is, we can see our prayers answered.

How the world needs prayer! The world with its complexities and frustrations cries out for the strengthening arm of prayer. Prayer is thought of in many different ways. For some it may be little more than a once-in-a-while event when one petitions a far-off God in the heavens above. God up there and humanity down here trying to gain His attention—such a concept suggests a separation of God and man. Yet Christ Jesus clearly proved man's at-one-ment with God, divine Mind. He lived this spiritual oneness with God. He lived it and healed by it. Following him, learning to commune with God faithfully in our daily walk, we will begin to find this oneness ours today as surely as it was his.

What a record the Bible has left us of Christ Jesus' marvelous and unbroken oneness with the Father! The Master said, "He that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him." John 8:29.

And today the Christ Science that Jesus lived and practiced on the Galilean hillsides is available to all through the teachings of Christian Science. This practical, healing Christianity is as alive and vital now as it was two thousand years ago.
