One summer my husband and I were very pleased to have made arrangements for a vacation in Switzerland. During our trip, however, I started experiencing headaches that became increasingly severe, combined with sensitivity of my eyes to the light. Soon even moonlight seemed too bright. Shortly, I was almost blind in one eye.

After praying earnestly for myself for a number of days I called a Christian Science practitioner. She was happy to help me through prayer, but she mentioned that she was having to leave on a trip in less than a week. We began our work together immediately. I felt supported by a strong, conscious trust in God, divine Principle, who provides our care always; and time has no role in such trust.

During one of the following nights I was thinking about angels, which Mrs. Eddy defines as "God's thoughts passing to man; spiritual intuitions, pure and perfect; the inspiration of goodness, purity, and immortality, counteracting all evil, sensuality, and mortality" (Science and Health, p. 581). Spiritual truths replaced the complaints which had seemed so real and I thanked God that I could be confident in His help. "For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways," the Bible says (Ps. 91:11).
