Christ, the mediator
When egos collide, much more is needed than good intentions or even common goals. We need the divine touch.
Colliding personalities. Questionable engineering judgment. Delayed schedules. "We need your help," my boss announced.
It was a challenging assignment. Two companion groups in our department were conducting dynamic analyses of a transport system. Resentment and dissension percolated as one group took a dominant role in the analyses. One group engineer refused to communicate with the other.
A colleague asked how I liked being appointed "referee." I laughed and said, "I think what we really need is a 'mediator.' "
