More than half a century ago, I witnessed a healing that caused me to investigate Christian Science. My mother was healed overnight, through Christian Science treatment, of a severe illness which doctors had been unable to relieve. (My family knew nothing of Christian Science prior to that time.)
I had given up attending a Protestant Sunday School and church services which I had gone to for years, as the teachings failed to answer my questions. Following my mother's healing I began to read Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and before I had finished reading the chapter "Prayer," I knew my answers would come through study of this book.
I felt encouraged by these statements in Science and Health: "A grain of Christian Science does wonders for mortals, so omnipotent is Truth, but more of Christian Science must be gained in order to continue in well doing" (p. 449) and "Truth has a healing effect, even when not fully understood" (p. 152).
