Is God's gift of abundance a miracle?
One of the most common and perplexing struggles we may face is the need to make a living. Yet it doesn't have to be such a challenge. There is a simple and positive solution right at hand.
It is illustrated by an experience I had when I was a small child. I was walking through a cornfield, and every stalk had two or more ears on it. I plucked an ear and went to my mother for an explanation. "How can this be? Papa planted just one grain of corn. How can there be so many ears with so many grains on each one?"
My mother's simple Biblical answer was, "Don't you remember how Jesus fed the multitudes, when all he had to start with was a few loaves and fishes?" See Mark 6:35—44; 8:1—9. This explanation made sense to me as a child. As I've grown spiritually, I've been able to see even more clearly how the understanding of God's power increases good.
