Christ lifts all burdens

[Original in Indonesian]

Today, as in Jesus' day, there are many people who work hard and are burdened by troubles. One person may suffer from a serious and chronic illness. Another may lack money—a lack that seems like a load to him because it has reduced his standard of living to poverty. Someone else may be faced with the death of a family member. Many more are weighed down because they do not understand the words of Christ Jesus, the Master of Christians, when he says: "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Matt. 11:28.

The Bible tells of people who came to him and found relief from their heavy loads. A Canaanite woman once asked him to help her daughter, who was possessed by a devil and suffering greatly. At once the child was well. Also, a leper came, bowed down before him, and asked for his help. Jesus cleansed the leper. See Matt. 15:22—28; Matt. 8:2, 3. And many others came to him, and they all found relief.

Can we, too, come to him to find rest and relief? By all means! We can study his teachings and find the rest we need. And what is this teaching of his? It is available today through the Comforter he promised when he said, "I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever." John 14:16. In Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, says, "This Comforter I understand to be Divine Science." Science and Health, p. 55. So Divine Science, known as Christian Science, is in fact the heart of Jesus' teaching, which can give rest to anyone.
