One day I was helping some relatives cut firewood with a chain saw, when the saw kicked back and landed on my left hand over my fingers. I quickly lifted the saw and, I must admit, counted my fingers, which were all there. My wife and I went inside the house, and I put my hand under the faucet in the sink. Heavy bleeding continued. I felt very faint, but in my prayer I countered by knowing that I could not lose consciousness. I knew that Mind is infinite, and that in my true identity as God's idea I reflect that Mind. This verse from a hymn with words by Mrs. Eddy comforted me (Christian Science Hymnal, No. 253):

Upon Life's shore,
'Gainst which the winds and waves can shock,
Oh, nevermore!
