For many years I have received numerous blessings and feel it is time to express my gratitude for the healing efficacy of Christian Science.

This new-old truth came into my experience at the birth of my first daughter. It was an instrument birth at my parents' home, and the doctor in attendance told my mother his concern was to save my life because he did not expect the baby to live. My sister stopped by the house and was very distressed on hearing the doctor's predictions. However, because she had just recently become interested in Christian Science and was reading Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, she quickly left to go and see a Christian Science practitioner nearby. There she poured out the sad story. The practitioner lovingly explained that since I had not requested Christian Science treatment, she could not pray for me. But she said that she could pray with my sister to know that all of God's children are whole and complete as His perfect creation.

The next morning when the doctor arrived, he said that a miracle had happened—I was progressing well, and the baby was still alive. (As I remember, no medication was given after the birth.) This daughter is now a grandmother and has been an active Christian Scientist for many years.
