Christian Science, fresh breath from God

In Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mrs. Eddy tells of curing a woman of consumption. As Mrs. Eddy sat beside her silently praying, this woman's breathing—labored when east winds blew—was restored to normalcy even though east winds were blowing at the time. Science and Health notes, "The wind had not changed, but her thought of it had and so her difficulty in breathing had gone." Science and Health, pp. 184–185.

No matter what apparently external or internal conditions may seem to trouble anyone, there is an unseen reality that is brought to light through prayer. The spiritual reality is that man is perfect, subject only to His creator, God, divine Truth. Spiritual, harmonious man—everyone's true identity—embraces all of God's creation and harmonizes peacefully with it.

Mrs. Eddy knew the truth of God and man so well that she wasn't deceived by the evidence of the material senses—so well that she didn't have to persuade sufferers that what she knew of God and His creation was the truth before she could heal them through her spiritual understanding. A thoughtful search of her writings shows why she was able to do this.
