While I was at work one day several years ago, my left arm became suddenly immobile. I began praying immediately, affirming the truths found in "the scientific statement of being" in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. It includes these words (p. 468): "Spirit is God, and man is His image and likeness. Therefore man is not material; he is spiritual." After two hours of prayer, I was able to use the arm as before.
However, some time later, I was seated in my chair at home for about an hour, unable to get up. I turned once more to "the scientific statement of being," and I was able to go to the telephone to call a Christian Science practitioner. The incident had left me rather shaken. After the practitioner prayed for me, I regained my sense of balance. But the trouble recurred a third time, depriving me of the use of one of my hands for three days. Still, through the help of the practitioner and my own prayerful efforts to refute this error, the condition was fully healed, and it has not returned. I am very grateful to God for this healing.
In July 1976 I visited The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts. My visit brought me so much joy and inspiration, and such a real sense of spiritual vision, that I no longer needed to wear the glasses that I had been using for so long. I had been healed.
