Some years ago my family felt the need for more space, and we put our house on the market. Yet it appeared to us that the house would be difficult to sell. Our land was very low and became flooded after a rain. This was also the case concerning most of the other houses in our neighborhood. After having accepted this condition of flooding for a long time, we finally realized that we must change our thought about it. As we prayed we began to see that man's God-given dominion over all can be expressed in our dominion over the elements. "When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee" (Isa. 43:2).

Our awareness of God's constant care grew gradually but daily, as we held to the spiritual truth that God is the source of all action. Mrs. Eddy writes (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 419): "Mind produces all action. If the action proceeds from Truth, from immortal Mind, there is harmony; but mortal mind is liable to any phase of belief." The trouble with flooding was overcome, and in subsequent rainstorms our yard absorbed the water.

As we continued to pray, we saw the importance of claiming a complete sense of home right where we were, not at some future time or place. Then we began planting and painting, and enjoying our home. We became more willing to leave the matter with God instead of outlining the details of when or whether the house would sell. We were content where we were.
