My first healing in Christian Science took place...
My first healing in Christian Science took place when I was still much opposed to what I thought this religion was.
I had badly burned the entire palm of my hand. My husband's mother (a Christian Scientist) came into the room just after the incident, and though I had not had one kind word to say about Science, in my pain I felt impelled to tell her what had happened and found myself asking for Christian Science treatment. Her surprise was evident, but her faith in Truth was more so. She nodded her willingness to help me and then silently prayed.
In that same moment, my hand was as before the accident. There was no lingering evidence or gradual cessation of pain. It was simply as if I had never placed my hand on the piece of overheated metal that was still in front of me. I gratefully acknowledged the healing, and in that moment my attitude toward Christian Science changed, though it was still about two years before the unassailable logic of Science caused me to embrace its teachings wholeheartedly.
