Seeking and striving
I've always found it interesting that Jacob's struggle at Peniel See Gen. 32:24-30 . is characterized as a wrestling match. Any athlete who has wrestled will tell you this is one of the most grueling and challenging sports. Having wrestled myself, I think I can explain why.
First of all, the wrestler is alone in facing his opponent; there are no teammates to take his place, to share the burden.
Secondly, the wrestling bout is virtually constant, with few timeouts and no rest periods. And if you're not handling your opponent, chances are he is handling you.
