At one point, a business for which I was president and manager (and had been for many years) was sold to a larger company. Not long thereafter one of the then prevalent conglomerates acquired the entire operation. I remained with this new company as president. A few turbulent years after that takeover, circumstances dictated that the plant in question should be sold.

The effort to sell the plant was time-consuming and had the effect of placing the business in limbo. We badly needed major maintenance. But on the one hand dollars were not being made available to us for this, and on the other, government regulations in the areas of safety and sanitation had to be obeyed. Fortunately, through great care and effort, we were able to comply with the regulations.

A Christian Science practitioner was asked to pray for me during this time. This aided me in casting off the temptation to follow mere human planning throughout the seemingly endless negotiations. Eventually an answer appeared in the form of an offer to buy, made by another company in the industry whose plans included expansion and who saw much merit in the venture. A purchase of the plant for cash was accomplished.
