Freedom and study—God-given rights

God has given each one of us a precious freedom. This freedom is the right to see ourselves as we really are—as God's own image, the unlimited and perfect man of His creating. The material sense of man would attempt to enslave us by continually suggesting that man is a mortal who is totally at the mercy of material circumstances.

How important then, to each one of us, is the study of Christian Science! True freedom and our right to study Christian Science go hand in hand. Only the Science of Christ reveals, and enables us to prove through healing, that man is spiritual, the infinite, incorporeal creation of the Father-Mother God. In Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, writes: "Slavery is not the legitimate state of man. God made man free." Science and Health, p. 227.

In Christian Science we find that man is not governed by fate nor enslaved by cruel and unjust circumstances. Man is governed by God, divine Love, who maintains and controls him through the just and harmonious laws of perfect Principle. And through Christian Science we discover the joy of knowing eternal divine Life as our Life.
