Recently I learned that regardless of fluctuating economic conditions or other apparently limiting circumstances, we can be awake to God's provision for His children. If we obediently seek His guidance, we will be shown the way.

When my husband and I relocated to a new area of the country, I was faced with the challenge of finding employment. Initially this seemed a scary prospect, but I set out on my job search full of expectation. However, a month later I had nothing humanly to show for my efforts but a page full of names and phone numbers, tremendous discouragement, and a growing sense of uselessness.

Still, during this time I had learned several valuable lessons from my daily study of Christian Science. Because my husband was already employed, I was responsible for the homemaking in our family, and I had become increasingly resentful about being "stuck" with this responsibility. Finally I learned to appreciate the truth of this passage in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 3): "Are we really grateful for the good already received? Then we shall avail ourselves of the blessings we have, and thus be fitted to receive more." I saw a need to be grateful for my present occupation—the opportunity to contribute to a harmonious home. I began to work at my tasks with an honest sense of joy, and this opened the way for other possibilities.
