One consciousness
For no apparent reason, one evening, I fainted. When I came to just a few moments later, I found myself on the floor, and I had a totally different feeling from the way I usually feel in waking from sleep. That normal sense of continuity was missing. In its place was confusion and fear.
As a Christian Scientist I confidently turn to prayer whenever a sense of harmony is interrupted. And so I prayed.
Well, my nose was healed soon enough (I had fallen nose first). But the healing of that frightening sense of total blackout took a few more days of prayer. I was thankful, most definitely, for this healing, which has been permanent, but what I saw of the nature of my real being through my prayers meant the most to me.
