"A little Christmas punch"

The red and green paper napkins in the Christmas bazaar bore this inscription: "Give someone you don't like a little Christmas punch." Everyone who saw them laughed at the amusing double meaning!

But later in the week, after one very demanding day was climaxed by word of a friend's misfortune, I exclaimed aloud: "I surely don't like all this trouble!" At once came the thought "Give someone you don't like a little Christmas punch!"

As I smiled at the memory of it, I felt a sudden great desire to experience right then something of the spiritual power, or "punch," that is the essence of the Christmas message—namely, the omnipotent love of God, ever present to heal and harmonize. What else could the delivering Messiah be, to each age and to every person? It is not a future promise but a present realization of healing truth that frees us from bondage to ignorance of God and His saving love and light.
