"Suddenly well"

Sometimes the student of Christian Science will work and pray long hours to realize the inherent perfection of God and of man in God's likeness. Other times healing comes so quickly that one is reminded of the instantaneous healings performed by the Master, Christ Jesus.

I recall being on a long trip in a crowded car when flu symptoms seemed to overwhelm me. Reaching out to divine Mind in prayer, I vigorously denied the sickness as a lie, because I knew that God, Love, had not created it. I also denied the insidious thought that I could even momentarily be separated from God, who is All-in-all. Then I affirmed truths of Mind's infinite perfection and of my perfection as Mind's image and likeness.

Finally I moved beyond even this divinely based argument to the realization of the absolute allness of God, Love. Details of mortal life faded and disappeared in the radiance of that all-powerful, all-enveloping Love, and in this moment of spiritual consciousness I was healed. The rest of the trip was undertaken not only in perfect health but in joy—in a feeling of warmth and tender love, which I realized was evidence of the presence of God, Soul.
