Obedience brings blessings
Obedience brings blessings. It verifies wisdom's rewards promised in the Bible verse (Prov. 3:5) "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding."
Several years ago when our son was in junior high, the private school for Christian Scientists he was attending offered a ten-day biking-camping summer trip. Our son decided to go.
The fifth night after they began their trip, I was talking on the telephone when an operator interrupted, saying she had an emergency call. It was one of the group's chaperons notifying us that our son had been injured. He said that a forest ranger had transported our son to the campsite where he had received first aid. The support of his friends was unflagging. At that moment it was uncertain whether our son would be able to continue with the group in the morning, as the daily routine and the biking to the next destination would be a vigorous challenge even under normal circumstances.
