"Having ears. ..."
It is not a bad thing sometimes to listen.
Not to that still small voice alone,
but to people ... just like ourselves.
Spreading the Word as we know and love it,
the way through Christ as we understand it,
usually takes a lot of leaning
forward in chairs and earnestly talking;
yet, as the prophets knew, God's voice
can come from the strangest sources, and
perhaps it is good to remember sometimes
we have not exclusive rights to Truth,
good for us sometimes to stop and lean
back in our chairs for a change
to hear what the other man thinks—
And not be surprised, as we often are,
to recognize God in his words.
