Faith under fire
When confronted with serious problems, individuals may find their faith under fire.
At such testing times it is not enough merely to state that everything will turn out well because we believe in God and His ability to see us through the difficulty. We may be well provided with strength to endure difficult experiences or patience to nurse a sick member of our family. But the ultimate purpose of our faith must be its translation into an understanding of God. This enables us to find satisfactory solutions and complete healing so that we don't just accept problems as natural and inevitable, or mistakenly try to aid God with human remedies and thus achieve only partial results.
Faith is active seeking to understand God and our relationship to Him even when our lives are going smoothly. Such understanding is necessarily striven for and deepened when challenges arise. Faith is a moral quality the human mind aspires to and attains as regeneration occurs.
