"Ye are my witnesses..."
Our highest purpose in life is clearly stated by the Old Testament prophet: "Therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, that I am God." Isa. 43:12. How grateful we can be for this assurance that each one of us is important to God, that each one of us is needed and is useful. With this assurance we have the impetus to make our individual witnessing a higher tribute to God.
There need be no guesswork as to the best way to do this. The greatest witness of all time, our Master, Christ Jesus, left us not only his own perfect example but also instructions for all who are earnestly seeking to follow his example. These familiar instructions, found in the Sermon on the Mount and carrying the spiritual power of a divine message, continue to be just as available and effective today as when the sermon was delivered by Jesus.
Faithful witnessing to God's all-power and ever-present love is depicted throughout the Bible. There are many instances of such witnessing in physical healing and in great triumphs over what seemed to be insurmountable trials.
