Some years ago I was bothered by many different types of discomfort and pain that seemed to cause sickness of one sort or another. I was not then a student of Christian Science, but we had some friends who were. Also, as a small child, I had known of an aunt who was a Christian Science practitioner. Still, I felt that Christian Science was really something for women and very religious people, not for me.
We were living in Arizona at the time, and I was working for a company that manufactured irrigation pumping equipment. This required my being on the road as well as spending time in the office taking care of paper work and customers. While I loved my work, it always seemed that I wasn't happy, and physical problems in one form or another often crept in.
One Sunday afternoon I became very ill and was taken immediately to a hospital. I remained there for about ten days for treatment of what was diagnosed as bleeding ulcers in the digestive tract. Upon my release, I was advised by the doctors that they had done all they could then do for me. I was to follow strict diets and take several types of medication. They also warned that the problem would recur, and that when it did, my only hope would be to get to a hospital in time.
