"When the heart speaks..."

The Ten Commandments were revealed to Moses when he climbed to the mountaintop—above the clamor of mortal-mindedness. Mrs. Eddy's search for Truth crystallized as she contemplated the biblical account of the palsied man healed by Christ Jesus, See Matt. 9:2-8 . and she was healed of the results of a serious accident.

Each of us finds the truths of Christian Science in a unique way, one exactly suited to his needs. My spiritual awakening came through hearing the testimonies of healing given at Wednesday evening meetings in a Church of Christ, Scientist, and the explanations of how the healing was accomplished. My gratitude for those early testimonies remains, as well as the details of many of them. Those basic lessons on how Truth brought about demonstration provided an impersonal, bedrock basis of understanding, one that has withstood many subsequent trials.

About half the Wednesday meeting provides for the giving of testimonies. A stranger attending Sunday services hears the familiar words of the Bible, joins in the singing and the silent prayer, and is inspired by the truth voiced in the Lesson-Sermon, Found in the Christian Science Quarterly. the solo, and the hymns. But he may have many questions about applying the truth himself. How wise Mrs. Eddy, our Leader, was in providing this simple, practical way for us to give examples of how Truth becomes relevant!
