Freedom on God's terms

God establishes the terms of man's existence. No other actual conditions have been made. By His divine authority, God alone forms and governs man.

To human beings, the terms of existence appear to be material. The determining factor of life is believed to be organic. Birth and death, sickness and health, sorrow and joy—all are considered legitimate parts of the picture. Because matter seems so apparent and material education so authoritative to the material senses, many people accept the premise of matter's reality without questioning it.

Christ Jesus demonstrated the way of freedom from this material sense of existence. He lived in the liberty of dominion over matter. Material laws and fleshly conditions were not determining factors to Jesus. In his healing ministry he proved that God alone determines the state of all He has made. No supposed force opposed to God was real to the Master. The result of his uniquely independent living was freedom—not only for those he healed but also for himself in the ultimate proof of resurrection and ascension. He said, "If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed." John 8:36.
