There have been many wonderful healings during the past years. An outstanding one was of apparent blood poisoning.
Just before retiring one evening, I had finished giving myself a pedicure when the scissors slipped and cut down into the skin beside my toenail. The next morning when I dressed to go to the office the toe was a little sensitive, but I became so busy at work later in the day that I thought no more about it. That evening, however, I found I could not get my shoe back on. Also, my leg was swollen to the knee and discolored. I walked with great discomfort.
At that time my father was not a Christian Scientist, and my mother was just beginning to study Science after seeing the healings I was having. Now I knew I had to turn to Christian Science completely and not look personally to my parents for aid. As soon as possible I went to my room and began studying; affirming the spiritual facts in "the scientific statement of being" as found on page 468 of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. I reached out to divine Love, God, for comfort and the thought that came was to sing hymns from the Christian Science Hymnal. I started with Mrs. Eddy's seven poems set to music as hymns and ended by singing Hymn No. 382, which begins, "What is thy birthright, man, /Child of the perfect One"—knowing that I was that child.
