The evergreen seasons of Spirit
The winter, seedtime, and harvest of individual thought may be as distinct as earth's seasons. Cycles in which burgeoning inspiration is followed by a withering mental frost sometimes claim to control not only those in artistic and creative work but also the Christian metaphysician who would grow in spiritual understanding and healing power.
If we seem to be experiencing a season of mental bleakness, we don't have to stoically wait it out. God never ordained a long, gray winter of dormant thought. He doesn't give us the desire to glorify Him and then withhold the inspiration and ability to do so.
We can break through inertia, dullness, and downright stubborn resistance to Truth by disclaiming the false sense of ourselves that says we have a private pendulum-mind, swinging between the fruitful and the fruitless. Insisting and understanding that we cannot drift from the divine control of infinite Mind, we slough off the claim of a spiritual slowdown. We recognize mental slumps as mortal concepts with no real origin or cause.
