"Some Objections Answered"

There's a chapter in Mary Baker Eddy's book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures entitled "Some Objections Answered," and it's good reading for every inquiring mind. If you're stymied on some statement of Christian Science, you may find your question addressed here. Or, if your practice of this Science isn't as fruitful as it might be, you may find in this chapter strength and enlightenment for dealing with mortal mind's claims of opposition.

Without being on the defensive, this chapter vigorously defends the advanced statement of Christian Science, which flows logically out of its Judeo-Christian heritage. Mrs. Eddy's deep study of the Bible helped to prepare her for the revelation of Christian Science. And then the revelation, with the proofs in healing resulting from it, carried the application of scriptural truths far beyond what had—and has—been the usual practice. This accounts for some of the opposition Science and Health sometimes receives.

Habitual ways of human thinking tend to stand in the path of divine revelation and its healing practice. One position that interferes with the understanding and higher demonstration of Christian Science is the conventional view of man as a sinner. Christian Science consistently reveals the real man to be made in the image and likeness of God, to be in effect the very son of God as Christ Jesus' life proved.
