"Call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me," the Bible says (Ps. 50:15). This deliverance was proved to me when, through the prayerful work of a Christian Science practitioner, I was healed of shingles. During one conversation, the practitioner mentioned that since shingles is believed by many to be contingent on nerves, we could be sure to realize that God does not need nerves to impart Himself. The truth of this statement was so obvious to me, I was immediately filled with joy and gratitude. The symptoms soon disappeared, and within a few days I was completely healed. My only contact with the practitioner had been by phone. But Mrs. Eddy writes in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health (p. 179), "Science can heal the sick, who are absent from their healers, as well as those present, since space is no obstacle to Mind."

With the help of the same practitioner I was healed of migraine headaches. He spoke to me of God's great love for all His ideas, and of man's freedom from heredity. After our conversation I went to a nearby Christian Science Reading Room in order to think about these ideas more deeply. While there I felt the healing presence of the Christ, and within a short time I was free of this difficulty.

I had circulatory trouble for a while. But during one disturbance the following thought came to me: God, who holds the planets in order in the universe, can also maintain me. The next moment I was calm and felt safe in His presence. Mrs. Eddy writes (Science and Health, p. 295), "God creates and governs the universe, including man." This healing has been permanent.
