At home in God

When I was a young man, I worked at a publishing house. During the rush season, we often worked fifteen or more hours per day. One morning I became very ill. When my boss asked me if I wanted medical help, I said, "No, I want to go home."

Haven't we all thought when ill, "If I could only go home, I would get better"? It is natural to want the comfort and security of familiar surroundings, the loving compassion of family and friends. But what about man's real home—his spiritual home in God? The Bible declares, "In him we live, and move, and have our being." Acts 17:28; In Him! What an inspiring statement. God's omnipresence establishes man's home as everywhere. Our real home is where we are. We cannot ever be separated from our home in Him, for home is the consciousness of God. When we realize God's allness and the nothingness of anything unlike Him, we can relax in the sanctuary of the everlasting love of our Father-Mother God—right here, right now.

Home, or spiritual consciousness, is controlled by the divine Mind. At home in Mind, we find all our activities are ordered and directed by intelligence. Ignorance and mesmerism are shut out. Accidents are impossible. Matter, material conditions, strain, stress, and tension have no place. Man's spiritual home is unpolluted by resentment, hatred, fear, or lust. Man has complete and permanent safety in this spiritual environment.
