There's someone you should know
There's someone you'd enjoy. And he's with you now, even though you may believe you have never met him. Who is this delightful individual? Why, he's you—the self you actually are, right now!
Many people think of themselves as inept, shy, irritable, slow, or unhappy, but no negative descriptions apply to the man of God's creating. And this is who you really are, the one who reflects every beautiful quality of God. (Ladies, please don't stop reading! The term "man" as used in this context refers to generic man, including woman.) Christian Science offers to each of us the opportunity to see ourselves as we really are, and when we do, we'll like what we see.
Is Christian Science, then, a religion that teaches us to be complacent or self-centered? No—quite the opposite. When one gains a recognition or even a glimpse of his true selfhood as a child of God, he begins to discern his true nature and to face the necessity of expressing this true nature.
