From my Tokyo files—on brotherly love

This is an eyewitness account of someone's "first love"—mine. Perhaps you too can recall that first time when you saw a total stranger and knew suddenly that God was Father and Mother of you both. Perhaps it was only a split second filled with love— yet time enough to perceive something akin to what the prophet meant when he cried, "Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us?" Mal. 2:10;

I had grasped intellectually the meaning of the word "brotherhood," as taught in Christian Science. I knew this Science reveals God to be divine Love, the Father-Mother of all; that it reveals the real man, made in Love's image, perfect and immortal; that Science reveals the Holy Ghost, divine Science, to be the law of Love that establishes and maintains man's relationship to God, in harmony with all God's infinite ideas. And I knew intellectually that these facts, accepted and practiced, are the laws that govern humanity's step-by-step demonstration of true brotherhood.

But I had never felt this love in my heart.
