The senior prom
Melissa had planned on going to her senior prom for as long as she could remember. It was just about the most exciting event in high school, and—well, you just had to go! Now that April was over, she and her girlfriends spent every Saturday afternoon shopping, looking at prom dresses.
"At least I've got a date," thought Melissa as she tried on a long yellow dress. She had been seeing Tom for six months now, so she knew they'd be going.
Toward mid-May, though, she became a little worried. Tom hadn't said a word to her, so at the end of one evening, Melissa simply brought up the subject.
