Christian Science has always been my way of life, and I'm...
Christian Science has always been my way of life, and I'm deeply grateful for that fact. My family of six has had healings of contagious diseases, burns, cuts, headaches, infection, skin conditions, and many other difficulties. In addition, I have undergone painless childbirth.
About three years ago, while enjoying a bicycle outing with family and friends, I was thrown from my bike, landing full force on my face. I was taken home in an unconscious condition but woke later with a feeling of peace and with no pain or fear. Because the children were disturbed by my appearance, I immediately explained to them that, like a mask worn on Halloween, the evidence of injury wasn't the real me. The swelling and discoloration were never a part of God's child. Through Christian Science the disguise, or symptoms, would be removed to reveal the truth of my perfect spiritual being.
My husband and children read to me from the Bible and from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. And for two days I listened to recordings of Christian Science hymns and articles, until the swelling went down so that I could see again. I was reminded, and consciously felt, that the "everlasting arms of Love/Are beneath, around, above," and that I had always been "safe in His encircling arms," as Hymn No. 53 in the Christian Science Hymnal tells us.
