I could write a book on the many healings and blessings I have received through Christian Science. Several years ago an abscess formed on the retina of my eye. At work I was required to see a doctor, who told me an immediate operation was necessary or I could lose my eyesight. However, I decided against the operation, instead turning to God for healing. I asked a Christian Science practitioner to pray for me. We both pondered Mrs. Eddy's words (Science and Health, p. 463), "A spiritual idea has not a single element of error, and this truth removes properly whatever is offensive." Within a few days the abscess disappeared.
Another time, I was unable to lift my arm one day; it felt paralyzed. Again the practitioner prayed for me, assuring me that God's image is forever perfect. I forgot all about the suggestion of incapacity and listened only to the voice of divine Truth. Soon my arm was all right, and I went to work.
I was also wonderfully freed from discomfort during menopause. A practitioner helped me realize that there is nothing that needs healing in God's universe, our true dwelling place. In reality, perfection is ever present. I owe my deepest gratitude to Christian Science. I can no longer imagine my life without it.
