In the fall of 1977 I began to lose my appetite and soon found that internal organs were not functioning. Pain occurred in various parts of my body. As a student of Christian Science, I did as I had been taught. I became conscious of the fact that my true and only substance is Spirit—and that I reflect divine Mind. I knew that my origin and residence are in God and not in a changeable pseudo mind's body of its own creating. I knew that in reality I am a formation of divine Mind, functioning with perfect scientific health.

This assurance of Mrs. Eddy's was encouraging (Science and Health, p. 419): "Disease has no intelligence with which to move itself about or to change itself from one form to another."

Numerous spiritual facts from this book and the Bible came to mind. When I was tempted to wonder if I could keep my spiritual defense fresh and clear, I realized that God could furnish me with "more than twelve legions of angels" (Matt. 26:53)—an abundance of powerful, healing truths.
