By Love sustained
Whatever memory claims to be one's own—
That history, background, way of life comprise—
In every aspect innate goodness lies,
For Love was always there and wrong unknown,
Except to mortal sense. God's love is shown
In our capacity for good, in ties
Of fellowship and justice. From these arise
A sounder judgment and a wisdom grown
From unselfed love. Then the consequence
And errors of mortality will fade,
Lost in eternal goodness entertained;
By Love revealed, with endless furtherance,
And man is seen—man in God's image made—
Whole and harmonious, free, by Love sustained.
