Healing the wounds of prejudice

How can our wounds be healed? By our accepting and obeying the truth. The Bible says, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." John 8:32; The spiritual truth of being wipes out bad memories and lingering resentment, bitterness, despair—even rebelliousness. It proves they are all without validity.

I look a little different from those around me, since I live in America but I am of Korean ancestry, and this has caused me some problems. After a couple of disturbing occurrences I decided to do something about the situation through the understanding of Christian Science. I knew that God had an answer for me that would wipe out all belief in these unhappy experiences, which I found myself going over and over in my mind.

One day my good friend and next-door neighbor was having a yard sale and invited me to bring some of my things to sell. I was having a happy morning. Then I went over to talk with a young woman who had been there for some time. I asked her if she was going to buy the bicycle she was examining. Immediately she turned away without saying a word and walked out of the yard. It seemed to me that pride and prejudice were strong. For a moment I felt despair. I once believed such actions stemmed from hatred, but through the study of Christian Science I have learned they are due mainly to ignorance—ignorance of God and His creation. God's creation is spiritual and perfect, and since man is included in this creation, he is spiritual and perfect too.
