This healing came about through complete reliance on prayer. While friends and my wife and I were bicycling on a narrow path, I lost control and was thrown to the ground. My arm and shoulder were badly hurt. Through my understanding of Christian Science—realizing that God is Love, as the Bible tells us—I was able to overcome fear and get back to our hotel room.

My wife and I turned at once to the two textbooks, the Bible, and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, to help us realize more clearly that man is the child of God and therefore perfect as his Father. I wasn't able to raise my arm, and we could see that a separation had taken place at the shoulder. We both held firmly to the fact that God is All, and that His perfect love alone was operating everywhere—even where the injury seemed to be.

Early in the morning I was awakened with the feeling that my shoulder was being painlessly put back into place. God's power was in operation right there, and I knew it, with deep gratitude. Later that morning, when I got up, the arm was perfectly healed, and I was able to move it freely and without pain.
