The healing action of truth-knowing
Easy to say, those words of Jesus: "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free"! John 8:32; But how do you do that? How do you know the truth? For years I struggled to understand just what Jesus meant in those few words. I found the answer in Christian Science.
This Science reveals that God is Truth. It also reveals that Divine Truth itself has established the spiritual reality and perfection of all that really exists. Truth, through the action of its idea, the Christ, provides us with the proper standard by which to judge the meaning and worth of our daily lives. Having this spiritual standard, we are able gradually to uncover and destroy in ourselves the myriad misconceptions that a mortal, material sense of existence generates.
In my search for Truth I also learned that God is Mind. My Mind! My very consciousness. That was a startling thought! In reality I had to know the truth, because I did not have a mind that could know anything else. God is indeed the very Mind of man, who is wholly spiritual. Learning these truths was reassuring and strengthening. But I had to discover, as well, how to apply them in my life.
