In times of crisis, God has been to me "a very present help in trouble" (Ps. 46:1). I woke early one morning with a strong feeling that I must get up and go downstairs. Even as I did this, I felt myself losing consciousness. My parents were nearby, so I asked them to read specific passages to me from the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. From the latter, the Lord's Prayer with its spiritual interpretation was especially comforting.

Fighting to stay alert, I prayed silently, "Father, You are the only cause and I am Your effect. Help me to know that my life is safe within You." I knew that man cannot be separated from God's constant care. Truths, such as this one (Ps. 46:10), "Be still, and know that I am God," brought a warm reassurance that God was caring for His child.

At one point my dad quietly said to me, "You have nothing to fear." This comment immediately struck home. I saw that fear could not rob me of my birthright—the dominion naturally resulting from my oneness with God. Within minutes, strength returned, and all dizziness and quaking stopped. I rejoiced over this healing and thanked God for the freedom to go about my day feeling totally safe as His child.
