Setting the stage for healing
Should someone cry out, "Why am I not healed?" the answer might be, "Have you truly set the stage for healing?"
In the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy goes into great detail about spiritual healing. The first three pages of the chapter "Christian Science Practice" are devoted to the story of a woman who entered a Pharisee's house where Jesus was dining, washed his feet with her tears, and anointed them with oil. The woman's act showed the Saviour her deep repentance of past mistakes. His great understanding of God's love for man and of the illusionary nature of all sin enabled him to acknowledge her repentance with the benediction, "Thy sins are forgiven." Luke 7:48;
If healing is delayed, this may signify a need to emulate this repentant woman. The qualities of her redeemed thought won for her freedom from sin.
